WITH only two SANFL games last weekend and a growing injury list, few Port Adelaide players suited up for duties in the South Australian state league.

Unsurprisingly, Nathan Blee was named the Power development team's Player of the Week after his second stand out performance for the Roosters.

At Norwood, David Rodan and Darren Pfeiffer also showed good signs as they made their strongest claims yet for selection in the Power 22 as strong contributors in the Redlegs demolition of Sturt.

SANFL Player of the Week

Nathan Blee (for Roosters v Tigers)
26 disposals, 9 marks, 2 clearances, 7 inside 50s, 1 rebound 50, 1 goal

Bleezy ended up with 26 touches and kicking a goal in a pretty good return for the Roosters where he played mainly on the wing changing forward and back for bits and pieces. He seems to find the ball pretty easily however we really want him to improve his work rate and fight to get the footy more.

League

David Rodan (for Redlegs v Double Blues)
23 disposals, 1 mark, 1 tackle, 7 clearances, 1 inside 50, 3 rebound 50s, 1 goal

Rodan played as a small back, which is something we’ve tossed around and are experimenting with ourselves. It was a good opportunity and certainly for the first half we were pretty happy with his rebound work down back to set Norwood up. He had a quiet second quarter but his second half was very strong when he moved on-ball and was very good around stoppages. 23 possessions and a goal highlights his prominence.

Darren Pfeiffer (for Redlegs v Double Blues)
18 disposals, 1 mark, 2 tackles, 1 hit out, 4 clearances, 4 inside 50s, 3 rebound 50s

Pfeiffer played down back on a tall Sturt forward and changed on-ball in a very different rotation for him. It’s good for what we’re wanting however, as we want him to work on his defensive approach. When he was on-ball he was very good with 18 possessions - most of them used very well - in a good performance for Norwood.

Simon Phillips (for Redlegs v Double Blues)
9 disposals, 1 mark, 2 tackles, 4 inside 50s

Simon played forward but was fairly quiet with only 9 possessions and he couldn’t hit the scoreboard on a night where his team kicked 24 goals. ‘Flip’ is just struggling to impact on games enough - on the ball and at contests - something that he’s well aware of and he continues to work through those issues with us.

Cameron Hitchcock (for Tigers v Roosters)
3 disposals, 2 marks, 1 tackle, 2 inside 50s, 1 goal

Hitchy played a quarter and a half but did another hamstring during the first quarter and didn’t return to the game from halfway mark of the second term.

Reserves

Danny Butcher (for Roosters v Tigers)
5 disposals, 1 mark, 3 tackles, 1 clearance, 1 rebound 50

Butchy struggled to find a competitive edge in the seconds and only managed a few touches and tackles. He played midfield and forward for about eighty percent of the game but just couldn’t get his hands on the ball.

Mitch Curnow (for Double Blues v Redlegs)
7 disposals, 2 marks, 1 tackle, 11 hit outs, 1 clearance

Mitch rucked and played a bit more forward this week. He wasn’t able to kick any up forward and had a very quiet three quarters but in the last had some impact in the ruck contests but still only managed 7 possessions and 11 hit outs.
