ROUND 3 rising star nominee Connor Rozee believes staying in Adelaide has helped him transition into the AFL system.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, Rozee admitted that living at home in a comfortable environment has been the ideal situation.
“It’s probably made adjusting to AFL life a little bit easier,” Rozee said.
“I haven’t had to move out of home like some of the boys coming from Victoria have.
“I’m still living with my dad which makes things easy. When I get home and there’s a cooked meal.
“Adjusting to AFL life has been a pretty big step up and getting to stay home has probably made that adjustment a little bit easier.”
The 19-year-old has had a wonderful start to his short AFL career to date, and has had a huge impact in Port Adelaide’s forward line, mainly his five-goal performance against the Lions at the Gabba on Saturday evening.
But it is the midfield where the number five pick in the 2018 draft would eventually love to find himself playing in the long-term.
“I haven’t played in the midfield for a long time - I’ve probably played every other spot apart from midfield,” he said.
“But in the long-term, once I put on a bit of body size and get my tank a bit better, I think I can be a damaging midfielder.
“At the moment I am loving playing down forward and I also loved playing at half back for North Adelaide last year.
“I think that’s one of my strengths, is that I’m a pretty versatile player. I can play a few different positions.
“But in the long-term, I think as a midfielder I can have a bigger impact on the game.”
Rozee will look to continue his good form when the Power host Richmond at Adelaide Oval in Round 4. The first bounce of the blockbuster clash will be at 4.05pm ACST on Saturday 13 April.
