PORT ADELAIDE midfielder Sam Powell-Pepper had an almost perfect game against Gold Coast in the eyes of the coaches.
Powell-Pepper received nine of a possible ten votes in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year Award for his performance in Shanghai.
The 20-year-old had 26 touches, three marks, seven clearances and ten tackles to go with two goals. He also managed six inside 50s.
Power skipper Travis Boak was awarded six votes for the performance which saw him win the Shanghai Medal as best on ground.
Boak had 29 disposals, five marks, six tackles, six inside 50s and a goal.
Four other Port Adelaide players received votes with defenders Tom Jonas and Darcy Byrne-Jones awarded four votes each and two votes going to Ollie Wines and Chad Wingard.
Gold Coast ruckman Jarrod Witts was his side’s lone vote-getter with three.
Eddie Betts (Adelaide), Jack Darling (West Coast Eagles), Jordan De Goey (Collingwood), Cale Hooker (Essendon) and Jake Melksham (Melbourne) all received the maximum ten votes from the AFL coaches for round nine.
Fremantle’s Nat Fyfe has retained the outright leadership of the award voting with West Coast’s Jack Darling and Melbourne’s Max Gawn in joint second position.
