With Port Adelaide's bye in Round 10 after the Shanghai clash, we thought we would take a look back at the five best marks from season 2018 to date.
- Robbie Gray v Gold Coast, Round 9
In a game of few highlights, Gray added one with his one-handed effort in the first quarter.
Under extreme pressure from Gold Coast captain Steven May, Gray shielded the ball with his body to bring down a long-bomb into the pocket from Sam Powell-Pepper.
Unfortunately, Gray couldn’t finish the play with a goal.
- Justin Westhoff v Sydney, Round 2
It was a game to remember against Sydney, and Justin Westhoff’s juggling mark in the second quarter was one of many highlights.
Sandwiched between two Swans opponents, Westhoff got on the end of a Hamish Hartlett kick-in.
He jumped early and took the ball with one hand on the way down before taking full control of the ball.
- Sam Gray v North Melbourne, Round 6
Sam Gray took nine marks against North Melbourne in Round 6 but none was better than his diving effort in the third quarter.
Brad Ebert won a free kick in the centre square and Gray, running at full speed, dived on the ground to claim a spectacular mark before getting a knee to the face from his opponent for his troubles.
It capped an impressive day for Gray, who also booted four goals.
- Paddy Ryder v Adelaide, Round 8
Jake Neade bombed the ball inside 50 towards Ollie Wines, who provided the ideal step-ladder for Paddy Ryder.
The big man flew high over Wines and his Adelaide opponent Luke Brown and gave Crows Ruckman Sam Jacobs no chance to claim a Showdown classic mark.
This mark was nominated for and won the AFL’s Round 8 nomination for Mark of the Year.
- Jack Hombsch v Geelong, Round 5
In a game which provided few highlights for Port Adelaide fans, Jack Hombsch created one with a courageous mark going back with the flight.
With Geelong’s Daniel Menzel in full flight on the lead, Hombsch left his man and claimed an important defensive grab before clattering into teammate Tom Jonas.
This mark was also nominated and won the AFL’s Round 5 nomination for Mark of the Year.
