JASON Horne-Francis has been voted by the fans as their MG MVP from Port Adelaide’s 54-point win over the Lions.
It was a tight contest up until a Port Adelaide midfield masterclass, led by Horne-Francis and teammates Connor Rozee and Ollie Wines, dominated the centre and propelled the side to an emphatic win.
Horne-Francis recorded a well-rounded stat line of 25 disposals, seven clearances and a goal in what was an impressive club debut for the talented youngster.
His influential performance was highlighted by an impressive 11 score involvements, with the midfielder's team-first approach and impact on the scoreboard recognised by the fans.
His immediate chemistry with his fellow midfielders and intuitive connection with the side's forwards provided an exciting glimpse for Port Adelaide fans of what's to come.
He takes the early lead on the Fans MG MVP Leaderboard, bagging the maximum five points.
Fan-favourite Connor Rozee finished runner-up, recording 23 disposals, six tackles and a goal.
In his first game since claiming maiden All-Australian and John Cahill Medal honours, it is evident Rozee is continuing to build upon the momentum generated from his career-best year.
Rounding out the Round 1 votes were sharpshooter Todd Marshall (3rd), livewire Junior Rioli (4th) and the ever-reliable Aliir Aliir (5th).
Port Adelaide now look ahead to their next challenge as they prepare to travel to the MCG to take on Collingwood on Saturday afternoon. The Port Adelaide Cheersquad is offering bus packages to get supporters to the club’s first away game of the season, while there will be pre-game and post-game supporter functions in Melbourne.
