AS Port Adelaide prepares to face West Coast at Adelaide Oval in Round 21 of the 2018 AFL season, portadelaidefc.com.au looks back on the last time the sides met.

It was Round 7 this season and the sides met at Perth’s Optus Stadium with the Eagles looking to secure a sixth straight victory and the Power eager to make their first trip to the new venue a successful one.

Going into the game, the Eagles were preparing for their biggest test of the year against a Port side which had won just once in its past five games against them.

It was a game to forget for the Power who were beaten up in the contest and had few winners.

They trailed by two goals at the first change but after managing just one major in the second term, fell 37-points behind at the main break and the game was all but over.

The margin blew out to 55 points in the third quarter with Eagles forwards Josh Kennedy and Jack Darling proving hard to handle before the Power finally showed some fight.

The visitors booted five unanswered goals to make the Eagles slightly nervous but the run was left too late as the final result confirmed a 42-point win.

The only dampener for the top-of-the-table Eagles was a one-match ban given to star ruckman Nic Naitanui for a dangerous tackle on Port’s Karl Amon.

For Port, captain Travis Boak stood tall with 28 disposals, seven marks, and three tackles, while Robbie Gray also had 28 touches.

Dan Houston and Darcy Byrne-Jones were also busy off half back, and Sam Gray and Aidyn Johnson each booted two goals.
