A NUMBER of talented players have been producing some outstanding football in Port Adelaide’s SANFL side, each making their case for an AFL call-up this Thursday night.

Mid-season recruit Quinton Narkle has enjoyed thrilling back-to-back games for the Magpies, with the 25-year-old averaging 31 touches, six clearances and seven inside-50s.

Narkle has a 41-match AFL career under his belt, with his prior experience at Geelong putting him firmly in the conversation for a debut against his former side.

Tom Jonas and Ryan Burton both performed well in the SANFL over the weekend, with an injured Lachie Jones leaving an AFL defensive spot wide open.

Jonas or Burton would be the likely candidates to take Jones’s place, however Jase Burgoyne could also be an option, with the running backman gathering 27 disposals in Saturday’s SANFL win.

Orazio Fantasia was also back in top form on Saturday, with the 27-year-old recording 18 disposals, seven marks and four goals.

The start of Fantasia’s season was marred by injury, but the small forward will be keen to make a return to the top level at some point in 2023.

Midfielder Trent Dumont has been playing consistent football, piling on another 25 possessions and seven marks for the Magpies.

With leadership experience at both AFL and state level, his skill and cool head have been critical in the side’s four SANFL wins and could see him return to AFL, should the right position become available.

Port Adelaide will name its team for Thursday night’s Round 14 match against the Cats on Wednesday evening at 5:50pm ACST.
