ANZAC ROUND

Port Adelaide and ANZAC Round go hand-in-hand at AFL Level, and the club will hold a special ANZAC commemoration, including the last post, before its Round 4 game against the Bloods on Saturday.

Port Adelaide had a number of former League and seconds players and officials serve in the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps as part of Imperial Forces in World War One and World War Two and later in Vietnam.

The club is calling on all supporters to get behind the ANZAC appeal at www.anzacappeal.com.au or make a donation to ADF and RSL volunteers across the city during the week.

Final Say

Port Adelaide hasn't defeated West Adelaide in four of its last five games, and this weekend is no guarantee despite the clubs' contrasting starts to the 2014 season.

The Bloods haven't won a game this year - a victory on ANZAC Saturday over the Magpies will be motivation enough - but the win-loss ledger at Richmond doesn't reflect the quality of opposition West has come up against.

They lost to League benchmark South Adelaide in the opening round, narrowly went down to the Eagles by 10 points and 15 to last year's grand finallists North Adelaide.

Port Adelaide will need to fire quickly as it did against the Eagles last week, but consistent effort will be equally important against the blood and tars.

The Eagles wrestled control of last week's game in the second and third quarters, and while the Magpies were inaccurate with their superior inside 50s, there was no doubt they lost the momentum through the middle of the game.

Garry Hocking will demand a full-game attack from his team this week, and with players pushing for selection in the Academy team and equally with several key players in hot form, the small injury list and competition for spots will ensure a strong effort on Saturday afternoon.
