PORT Adelaide ambassador Anna Meares has become the most successful female track rider in history after winning gold at the World Track Cycling Championships.
The 31 year old claimed her 11th gold medal in world championship cycling after winning the women’s keirin event.
It was her 26th podium finish at the championship since she first medalled in the 2003 event.
The win caps of a successful week for Meares, adding to the silver medal she won in the women’s 500m time trial, and the bronze medal from the team sprint.
