MILES BERGMAN has been recognised with selection in the AFL Players' Association 22under22 team but teammate Jason Horne-Francis has missed the final cut.
The team was voted by supporters after a 44-man squad was chosen by the AFL Players’ Association chair of selectors Michael Barlow with the support from an internal selection panel and Champion Data information.
It was the first time Bergman and Horne-Francis had been included in the squad, but only Bergman attracted enough votes to stay in the final 22. He was named in the back pocket.
Bergman has returned strongly in 2023 following an injury-interrupted year last year.
Showing his versatility, Bergman has been used on the wing and at half back, even stepping in as a key defender at times, all the while averaging 14 disposals, 2.5 tackles and 315 metres gained per game.
Fremantle was best represented in the 22under22 side with four players – Hayden Young, Caleb Serong, Jye Amiss and Luke Jackson chosen.
Collingwood’s Nick Daicos was named captain with Hawthorn midfielder Jai Newcombe named his deputy.
