PORT ADELAIDE has put pen-to-paper on another pivotal sponsorship, with China-based cultural industry company MJK announced as the Power's coaches' sponsor until at least the end of the 2020 season.
Jumping on board as a partner from Round 1, MJK has decided to further extend its initial commitment to Port Adelaide by signing-on until Port Adelaide's 150th anniversary year.
Originating from Xi’an – the ancient Chinese capital – MJK’s core business focusses e-commerce, wine, experiential tourism, cultural artefacts and real estate.
MJK registered its company in Australia in February this year, and has established its international headquarters in Sydney.
MJK has appeared on the match day polos of the Power’s coaching panel this year with a partnership following on the heels of its other Open to the World partners Shanghai CRED Real Estate, Ausgold and Cathay Pacific.
As part of the deal, MJK will be the major partner of Port Adelaide’s Power Footy program currently operating in 14 schools across China, which will now expand to Xi'an.
“This is another fantastic announcement – having MJK on board until 2020 is significant,” Port Adelaide chief executive officer Keith Thomas said.
“Through our initial discussions, MJK were impressed by our vision, our mission in China and our long history, and wanted to partner with us through to at least the end of our 150th season.
“MJK are an entrepreneurial, collaborative and highly-focussed company, so they are a logical fit for a partnership with Port Adelaide on the basis of shared values alone.
“We’ve worked closely with Mr Zheng, director Tony Lu and the rest of the MJK organisation to begin work building a mutually beneficial, long-term relationship and we’re excited about the future for our Power Footy program in China.”
Mr Junping Zheng, founded MJK and believes the relationship with Port Adelaide will have benefits in both directions.
“We are very excited to extend our partnership with Port Adelaide.”
“They wish to develop a deeper engagement with China, and we wish to develop a deeper engagement in Australia. It is win-win.”
“We came to Adelaide last week to watch Port Adelaide play West Coast. We were impressed with Port Adelaide but also with the city of Adelaide, which we see as a cultured city which offers great potential for our business.”
“We see this as only the beginning of a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship.”
Port Adelaide plays Gold Coast in the history-making first game for AFL premiership points in China at Jiangwan Stadium on Sunday 14 May at 1.15pm CZT/2.45pm ACST.
