THE voting system for the John Cahill Medal has changed from 2011 onwards.

Members of Port Adelaide’s match committee - comprising the Senior Coach and Assistant Coaches - now produce a single joint set of votes for each round during their match review process.

Previously, each Match Committee member produced their own individual votes.

Every player is awarded between 0 and 4 votes, with an emphasis on how they played the role expected of them and their influence on the outcome of the game.

4 votes are the most any player can get for any one game.

4 votes are cast for a player who is considered to have put in an outstanding performance, 3 votes for an excellent performance, 2 votes for a very good performance and 1 vote for a player who is adjudged to have had a positive influence on the game.
