KATELYN POPE was dominant and Sachi Syme and Piper Window had plenty of the ball as the pick of the Port Adelaide AFLW players in the SANFLW at the weekend.

Window’s Glenelg outfit sits top of the ladder after two rounds as one of three sides unbeaten to start the year.

The teenager booted a goal just before half time to go with her 21 disposals, six tackles and seven clearances as the Bays overcame a scoreless opening term to come from behind and record a 26-point win over Sturt.

Playing her first game for Glenelg Jasmin Stewart was busy with 17 touches, five marks, six tackles and three clearances to go with seven inside I50s.

Ella Boag also contributed well finishing with nine disposals and three marks in addition to one tackle and one clearance.

At Hisense Stadium, West Adelaide maintained its unbeaten start to the season with Lauren Young heavily involved as the Bloods beat North Adelaide by 18 points.

Young had 16 disposals and put the Bloods in front with a goal in the second term and they held the lead after that.

Katelyn Pope continued her strong start to the season with a game-high 24 disposals for the Roosters. She also had three marks and three tackles. Her teammate Amelie Borg had seven touches, three tackles and a clearance but Roosters remained winless to start the season after two games.

Norwood enjoyed a 20-point win over South Adelaide after a slow start, with Sachi Syme among the best for the Redlegs.

She recorded a team-high 20 disposals to go with her two clearances, nine inside 50s and 1.1.

The Redlegs booted the last four goals of the game including three in the last term while keeping the Panthers scoreless to come from behind at Flinders University Stadium at Noarlunga.

A goal and seven disposals to Julia Teakle helped Central District overcome Woodville-West Torrens by 22 points at Elizabeth.

Teakle also had four tackles as the Dogs started strongly and were never headed. A sore calf meant ruck Olivia Levicki wasn’t part of the Central District side after a starring performance in Round 1.

Port Adelaide’s AFLW players are currently in their off-season and a number have been released to play for SANFLW clubs for the opening five rounds of the SANFLW season before they return to Alberton officially in early June for the start of pre-season.
