PORTSIDE DERBY

In the first installment of the Portside derby for the year, the Magpies and Eagles will go head to head at particularly unhappy hunting ground for Port Adelaide.

The Pies haven't won in five matches at the ground, with its last victory way back in 2008, but with the good form on show last week, Monday's public holiday will be a great opportunity to see a great game between the young Magpies and the flag fancy Eagles.

The Eagles will also give away a new i20 in the event their crowd cracks 8,000, so there's even more incentive to get to Woodville Oval and cheer the Magpies on in enemy territory

Final Say

This is a huge test for the Magpies after last week's thumping win over the Tigers.

The Eagles are rated as a flag favourite and given their stable lineup and coaching panel coming into the 2014 season, it's really no surprise.

They've also accounted for Central District and West Adelaide in the opening two rounds and sit comfortably in the top three.

Buddha Hocking's Magpies were comprehensive and clinical last week, but most pundits rightly say it won't be the case again on Monday - such is the class and quality of this Woodville-West Torrens side.

Port Adelaide advantage last week was pressed through its quality ball work in the middle, fast clearance wins and relentless pressure on the Glenelg midfield and defence.

Mitch Harvey continues to offer a strong marking option up forward, while John Butcher and Cameron Hitchcock are both creative and kicked five goals apiece last week.

If not declared fit, the Pies may miss the presence of Angus Bruggemann who provides a valuable tall utility option both forward and back as well as a pinch-hitting ruckman.

Combined with a nicely gelling midfield unit of Steven Summerton, Kane Mitchell and Tom Logan, as well as outside runners like Sam Colquhoun and Anthony Biemans, the Magpies will look to press the advantage their small and malleable midfield offers.
