IN: J Sweet 24
OUT: C Dixon 22 (managed)
Ruckman Jordon Sweet is preparing to make his club debut this Saturday as Port Adelaide takes on Collingwood at the MCG.
Native South Australian and childhood Power supporter Sweet was traded to Alberton in November after spending five seasons with the Western Bulldogs.
At 206-centimetres, the 26-year-old is the tallest player on Port Adelaide’s list, and is set to share ruck duties with fellow new recruit Ivan Soldo.
Charlie Dixon battled with illness early in the week and will be rested as part of a management plan to preserve the key forward, while Travis Boak’s back issue has kept him out of the side for another week.
The 35-year-old midfielder got through training on Wednesday but found he was still a bit restricted, so medical staff have opted for a conservative approach.
Sweet has been named on the interchange alongside Kane Farrell, Jase Burgoyne, Jed McEntee and Jackson Mead, with one of these five players to be announced as the tactical substitute an hour before the first bounce.
The emergency group comprises Dylan Williams, Francis Evans and Dante Visentini.
Saturday’s game against the Magpies will take place at the MCG from 1:15pm ACST / 1:45 AEST.
Fans are invited to a pre-game function at Transport Hotel, Federation Square from 10:15am until 12:15pm, featuring special guests Dom Cassisi and Nathan Buckley.
A post-match function with player and coach interviews will take place after the final siren in the Keith Miller Room on level 2 of the Shane Warne Stand at the MCG.
Local fans in Adelaide can watch the game with fellow Power supporters at The Precinct at Alberton, bookings are strongly encouraged.
