PORT ADELAIDE will continue its AFLW pre-season with a camp at Victor Harbor this week.
The camp will include a mix of physical conditioning, team building and educational sessions as the side builds towards the 2024 NAB AFLW season.
It’s the second consecutive year the club has opted for a camp in the region, after an enjoyable visit in 2023.
Running from Friday until Sunday, the camp will give Fleurieu Peninsula locals a chance to get up close to the AFLW players, including a signing session at the Victor Harbor Football Club.
“We’ve got eight new players this season and a handful of new coaches so getting away together is a great way to build on the connection that the group has been developing during the off-season,” said Port Adelaide Head of AFLW, Shane Grimm.
“First and foremost the girls will be training hard but we’ll look to ensure they have some fun as well, and it will be great for them to connect with the local community at Victor Harbor.”
Among Port Adelaide’s recruits this year is Alissa Brook, who grew up and played junior football at Victor Harbor.
Friday’s training session at the Victor Harbor Footy Club will run from 4:30pm-7pm with a signing session to follow, giving locals a chance to watch training and get up close to the team for a selfie or an autograph afterwards.
The group will then train on Saturday at the Encounter Bay Football Club as well as making use of some of the surrounds at Victor Harbor for various other activities.
Port Adelaide’s AFLW players returned for pre-season training on June 3 and will play their first game of the season on August 31 against the Crows.
