Port Adelaide has welcomed Jack Lukosius, Joe Richards and Rory Atkins in a complex three-club trade, completed on the second-last day of the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period.

In a deal involving both Gold Coast and Collingwood, the Power receives picks 13, 29, 36 and 50, in addition to the three players.

Defender Dan Houston heads to Collingwood, along with pick 58, while Port also gives pick 39 and a future first-round pick to Gold Coast.

Versatile forward Lukosius has signed a six-year deal with the Power, after playing 116 AFL games since making his debut in 2019.

Standing at 195 centimetres, Lukosius will add to the forward line, having booted 79 goals so far in his young career, including 39 in 2023.

The 24-year-old holds some positional flexibility, also playing roles in defence and on the wing during his time at the Suns.

A Woodville-West Torrens product, the South Australian was selected at pick two by the Gold Coast in the 2018 National Draft.

Small forward Richards arrives at Alberton on a three-year contract after nine games at AFL level, kicking six goals.

The 177-centimetre forward also kicked 15 goals in seven VFL games, including six against Brisbane in Round 2.

Now 24 years old, Richards was drafted by the Magpies as a mature-aged recruit with pick 48 in the 2022 AFL National Draft, after previously been overlooked as a teenager.

He attracted the attention of recruiters with his performances playing country footy for the Wangaratta Magpies in the Ovens & Murray League.

Earlier this month, Richards took home the Harry Collier Trophy as Collingwood’s best young player in 2024.

Atkins joins Port Adelaide alongside Gold Coast teammate Lukosius, with 138 AFL games to his name.

The 30-year-old has signed a one-year deal at the Power, after four years at the Suns and eight at the Adelaide Crows.

The versatile midfielder also has the ability to play across half-back and on the wing and has a neat left-foot kick.

Taken by Adelaide at pick 81 in the 2012 National Draft, Atkins has a wealth of experience in an elite football environment.

Port Adelaide list manager Jason Cripps welcomed the trio to Alberton.

“During the season we identified a need to strengthen our forward stocks, and we know Jack and Joe will add a lot to our existing group,” Cripps said.

“Jack is an athletic and mobile forward, who is an elite field kick and has great running capacity. He has excellent forward craft and will add a unique skill set to our other emerging forwards. We know he will be a good cultural fit for our club.

“Joe is a smart footballer who boasts plenty of speed, has good forward craft and has plenty of improvement in his game with further opportunities at AFL level.

“Rory is an experienced footballer who will provide versatility and depth in multiple roles whilst also providing leadership both on and off field.

“We’re pleased to welcome three new additions to Port Adelaide, and to also have strengthened our hand for the upcoming National Draft.”

After 168 games and two All-Australian blazers, Houston will head home to Victoria to continue his football career.

The 27-year-old took a role in the leadership group in 2024, helping to lead a young backline throughout the season.

Cripps thanked Houston for his service and leadership.

“Dan has been an asset to our club, both on and off the field, since we selected him in the 2015 Rookie Draft.

“We have enjoyed watching Dan’s growth and development as a player and a leader, and I’m sure he will continue to play an important role at his new club.

“We are grateful to Dan for the past nine seasons and wish him all the very best for the future.”
