DEFENDER Ebony O’Dea has recommitted to Port Adelaide, signing on at Alberton until the end of 2026.
O’Dea’s two-year contract extension will take her to a ninth year in the AFLW.
The 26-year-old is a favourite amongst Port Adelaide fans for her ferocious tackling and fearless attack on the football.
After stints at Greater Western Sydney and Collingwood, during which she played 21 games across four seasons, she returned home to South Australia to be part of Port Adelaide’s inaugural AFLW list.
So highly is she regarded by her teammates that O’Dea was awarded the Players’ Player award after the club’s first season in the competition in 2022.
She has played every one of Port Adelaide’s 34 games in the AFLW, taking her career tally to 55, and she will look to continue that streak across the next two seasons.
“I've loved every moment of my first three years with Port Adelaide and I'm so excited to be locked in for two more, playing the Port Adelaide brand of footy with teammates that I admire,” O’Dea said of her new contract.
“The Port Adelaide people have been the highlight of my journey so far. I absolutely adore our players, coaches, staff and supporters, and I'm incredibly excited to see what our group can do over the next couple of years.”
Port Adelaide List Manager Naomi Maidment was pleased to have O’Dea recommit to the club.
“Ebony is one of the bravest players in the competition, someone we know will always put her body on the line for the team,” said Maidment.
“We love that she plays tough, hard, Port Adelaide footy with her own unique style, and she is much loved by her teammates because of that.”
