John McCarthy Tribute Game
Port Adelaide will pay tribute to the late John McCarthy at Saturday night’s game at AAMI Stadium. Joining the club at the end of 2011, McCarthy passed away late last year and this, the Power’s first home game for the year, will serve as the chance for the club, its staff, players and supporters to remember and pay tribute to his contribution to the club.

Tributes for this match include:

6:50pm – Video tribute on the AAMI Stadium superscreens.
6:59pm – Power players run through onto the field through a special banner prepared by the Port Adelaide Cheer Squad Supporters Club.
7:07pm – Players, officials and spectators to participate in a minute’s silence in respect of John.
7:10pm – First bounce. Players from both sides to wear armbands for McCarthy.

Our top three

1. Hamish Hartlett
Hartlett was impeccable through the midfield against the Demons, and was Port Adelaide’s only performer against the Giants last year. His game against Melbourne was supreme – his kicking spot on and ability to create opportunities for his teammates critical to the Power’s surge in the second and third terms. Hartlett acted like a barometer for the team last year and if he can fire on all cylinders in 2013 he will contribute significantly to Port’s on-field fortunes.

2. Jay Schulz
Schulz was a high-flyer last weekend – literally – and the four goals he contributed to the Power’s win were significant. Rated as one of the most accurate shots on goal in the league, his continuation of his form will work significantly towards Port’s on-field fortunes. While he needs support up forward like he had against the Demons, there is no denying Schulz’s important role as the Power’s key attacker and one that he needs to maintain against the Giants this weekend.

3. Travis Boak
The Port Adelaide captain was solid last week against the Demons and his ability to run-and-carry is critical to the Power’s attack out of the midfield. He didn’t trouble the scorekeepers against the Demons either and this is an area that we know he has been able to do some damage in his good performances in the past. Expect to see him step up again this weekend against GWS.
