PORT ADELAIDE is on the home stretch in the SANFL as much as it is in the AFL.
But while the Power’s campaign to play finals has dimmed following its loss to the GWS Giants, the Magpies are firmly in the hunt for September action.
Currently ranked sixth, the Magpies (six wins) are chasing Central District (seven wins) and tied on points with Glenelg.
Of course, three into one simply do not go.
Starting this Sunday against the Crows at Alberton, the Magpies will be in the box seat to play finals for the third consecutive year if they can win all four of their remaining games.
Adelaide is the only team currently ranked higher than the Magpies.
North, Glenelg and West all sit below on the ladder.
Here’s who the competition plays…
| Rd 18 | Rd 19 | Rd 20 | Rd 21 | Rd 22 |
Central | North | Glenelg | Eagles | Bye | West |
Port | Crows | North | Glenelg | Norwood | Bye |
Glenelg | Bye | Central | Port | Eagles | Sturt |
Simply, Port just needs to win games and it will be within striking distance of the top five, it also relies on Central losing at least two of its last four matches.
Port Adelaide plays the Adelaide Crows at 1.40pm on Sunday 31 July at Alberton Oval. Tickets are available at the gate from $14 for general admission, $8 for concession, free for children under-18.
