Watch the video above for Tim Ginever's recollections of Bob Quinn's story.

BOB QUINN'S story is well known by older generations of SA footy fans, but many younger generations wouldn't know the story of one of Port Adelaide's most significant contributors.

Quinn played 239 games for Port Adelaide between 1933 and 1947, featuring in three flags, as a captain and coach of the club.

A dual Magarey Medallist as the SANFL's best and fairest player, he is notable for having continued his playing career after returning from his service abroad during World War II.

He served at Tobruk and later South-East Asia as part of Australia's armed forces.

After being anointed Port Adelaide's captain in 1994, Tim Ginever finally met Quinn and learned of his predecessor's amazing courage during World War II and his steely resolve on the field.
