PORT Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley doesn't believe West Coast will deliberately target defender Tom Jonas as retribution for his ferocious hit on Andrew Gaff last year.
Saturday's clash at Adelaide Oval is the first time Jonas has faced the Eagles since he was handed a six-game ban for elbowing Gaff in the head.
"I don't expect there to be anything in it," Hinkley told reporters on Friday.
"That's their decision, not ours.
"Tommy's a pretty ferocious ball player most of the time.
"He made a mistake last year and he admitted that, so that's done and dusted for Tom."
Jonas did some light kicking during the Power's training session at Adelaide Oval on Friday, with fellow key defender Logan Austin taking his spot for a full-ground team drill.
Jonas was also on a light program earlier in the week, but Hinkley said he would definitely take his spot in the side.
"No doubt at all," Hinkley said.
"He's fine, he'll be right to play."
Captain Travis Boak completed the training session and will make his return after missing one game with a hamstring injury.
That forces 21-year-old midfielder Karl Amon out of the side in a move Hinkley admitted was a difficult one to make.
"It was really tough because he's a young player with a really bright future," Hinkley said.
"It was similar to (Aidyn Johnson) a couple of weeks earlier.
"You need good pressure for performance and that's what's happened."
Jonas will share the challenging job of stopping Eagles full-forward Josh Kennedy.
The reigning Coleman Medallist booted seven goals against the Power last year, and is coming off a six-goal haul against Fremantle last week.
"I think he's been off the ground twice for the year, which is amazing," Hinkley said.
"Hopefully we can limit the damage because he's a high-quality player.
"That's the beauty of not having one player play on him 100 per cent of the time.
"When you've got three or four backs that we're comfortable enough to play on him, that will certainly help."
The Power's midfield has been outstanding this season on the back of great service from ruckman Patrick Ryder.
He appears to have the edge over an Eagles' ruck division without Nic Naitanui and Scott Lycett, and with Nathan Vardy needing to pass a fitness test.
"West Coast have got (Jonathon) Giles and Vardy's looking like he's going to play, so they're still going to be pretty hard to beat," Hinkley said.
