THE Port Adelaide Football Club congratulates club legend Warren Tredrea on his induction into the SA Football Hall of Fame.

Tredrea was honoured at a function at AAMI Stadium on Tuesday night, joining the greats of South Australian football.

Tredrea played 255 AFL games (1997-2010) and 26 SANFL games (1996, 1997 and one in 2007 coming back from injury) for the Port Adelaide Football Club.

He was acting captain of the club’s inaugural AFL premiership side in 2004 and captained the Power from 2006 to 2008.

Tredrea also played in Port Adelaide’s 1996 SANFL Premiership.

He is the club’s highest AFL goalkicker, booting 549 in his stellar career.

A four-time John Cahill Medal best and fairest winner (2001, 2004, 2005, 2009), Tredrea was also an All Australian in four seasons (2001, 2004, 2005, 2009).

In his acceptance speech, Tredrea described his induction into the SA Football Hall of Fame as an hour he would cherish for the rest of his life.

A key contributor to Port Adelaide’s dominance in the AFL in the early 2000s, he also took the opportunity to urge the club’s supporters to maintain their faith as the club worked through a difficult time to its next era of success.

”It’s been a tough 24 hours for the Port Adelaide Football Club,” he said at the function, which came a day after the departure of senior coach Matthew Primus and president Brett Duncanson’s announcement that he will stand down at the end of 2012.

”We need to stick together. We need to continue to fight. Things will turn. We will have our time again.”

Tredrea joins a long list of Port Adelaide greats in the SA Football Hall of fame, reflecting the club’s proud contribution to football in South Australia and at national level.
