PORT ADELAIDE’s SANFL Statewide Super League Grand Final opponent has been decided with Glenelg winning through to next Sunday’s decider.
The Bays beat Adelaide by 27 points in the Preliminary Final at Adelaide Oval on Sunday afternoon to book a rematch of the Qualifying Final played a week ago.
It’ll be Port Adelaide’s 63rd official appearance in an end-of-season decider, and the seventh time the Magpies will meet Glenelg in a Grand Final.
Port Adelaide has won five of the six previous Grand Final encounters, with the Bays last tasting victory over the Magpies in 1934 - coincidentally in the first Grand Final meeting between the sides.
On that occasion they won by nine points in a high scoring encounter 18.15 (123) to 16.18 (114).
Other meetings between the sides were in 1977, 1981, 1988, 1990 and 1992 with the Magpies victorious on each occasion.
Sunday’s 2019 SANFL Statewide Super League Grand Final at Adelaide Oval will get underway at 3pm.
