PORT ADELAIDE made it a series whitewash against Adelaide in the Female Under 16 Next Generation Academy Showdown Series.
Holding an unassailable 2-0 series lead heading into the final game, Port finished off in style with a 22-point victory at Alberton Oval on Tuesday afternoon.
Naomi Maidment’s girls endured some injury concerns early in the contest, which amplified the fact they had some key personnel already missing from the final game.
Maddie Schwarz was best-on-ground before suffering a concussion, while forward Haley Taheny injured her knee and both were out of the game in the first half.
It was a hotly contested match with neither side being able to wrestle the ascendancy early and that pressure continued throughout the contest.
Consecutive goals to the Power girls gave them some breathing room and they were able hold on for a strong series win.
Maidment believes after the strong showing by her girls in the Showdown Series, female football is looking very promising in Port Adelaide.
