PORT ADELAIDE must make at least one forced change for Sunday’s SANFL Statewide Super League Grand Final against Glenelg at Adelaide Oval.
Speedy forward Aidyn Johnson was unsuccessful in his appeal to have his suspension for striking Tigers captain Chris Curran overturned and will miss the premiership-decider against the Bays.
SANFL rules state that Johnson must be replaced by a fellow AFL-listed player, which will bring pacey pair Marty Frederick and Kai Pudney, and tall back Riley Grundy into contention.
Frederick played in the qualifying final against Adelaide, collecting 14 touches in the 30-point victory, while Pudney has averaged 22 disposals in his 15 games for the Magpies this season. Grundy has also played 15 games this year and has been very solid in defence.
SANFL contracted players Matt Appleton and Ben Edwards have also been in good form in their affiliate leagues, and could be in contention to add to their eight and five games respectively in this weekend’s grand final.
The Magpies and Glenelg will battle it out for the 2019 premiership on Sunday afternoon at Adelaide Oval, with the game starting at 3.00pm.
