PORT ADELAIDE senior coach Ken Hinkley has revealed midfield/forward Steven Motlop won’t travel to Perth to face West Coast on Good Friday.

Motlop will, instead, play for the Magpies in the SANFL on Thursday night against Norwood, which Hinkley hopes will allow the speedster the freedom to find more of the football.

“His form for the first three or four weeks of the season has been a little bit off by his own admission,” Hinkley told portadelaidefc.com.au.

“He hasn’t been able to find the football and impact as well as we’d like.

“On that basis, we’ve made the decision to play him at SANFL level, where he’ll hopefully find some more of the ball.

“We know Steven is a high-quality player who we’re sure will make his way back and be a significant part of the team going forward.”

Karl Amon will also play for the Magpies on Easter Thursday against the Redlegs after recovering from a medial strain sustained in the first quarter of the Power’s 16-point win over Carlton in Round 2.

“Karl will also play in the Magpies tomorrow night and we’re pleased that’s the case.

“It’s a great credit to him for his diligence in getting right and for being ready to go.

“Karl certainly adds to our squad, and to our AFL team when he’s fit and firing.”

Port’s team to play West Coast at Optus Stadium on Good Friday will be announced on Thursday evening.
