Duursma on the impact of the draftees:

“For us boys to come in and do what we’ve done has been really good.

“Hopefully we can just keep that up throughout the year - it will be a really great achievement.

“The boys have done really well in the recruiting department and hopefully we can just make them proud.

Duursma on his influences at the club:

“I’ve had my mentor Stevie Motlop with me but also Travis Boak.

“I try and model myself as much as I can off him (Boak) because he’s been fantastic.

“Stevie has also been fantastic. He tells me to tuck the ball under my arm and take the game on, which is what he does.

“That’s been really beneficial to me to just take the game on and not leave anything out there.

“Boaky has been fantastic with the way he prepares and trains. He’s always the last one off the track and he’s just a fantastic player on and off the field.

Duursma on being nominated for the rising star:

“I just wanted to play as many games as I could first and try and get as many wins as I could.

“It’s a nice thing to get and a nice result for your hard work.

“It’s nice to win (the nomination).

Duursma on his dancing background:

“My Mum is a dance teacher, has been for most of her life.

“I did dance for 16 years. It did help me prepare for footy with balance, stretching and flexibility etcetera.

“I did lots of them - jazz, tap, ballet - all kinds, all kinds.

“Being able to have a strong core and build off that - blind turns and stuff to make you look pretty fancy out there.

“You get to practice of lot of that in dance.

Duursma on the competition between the young guys:

“There is a bit of pride riding on it.

“We like to talk a little bit of smack throughout the week.

“Usually it’s how many tackles we have. Whoever has the least amount of tackles usually has to buy lunch or something.

“We’ve got to make sure we tackle.
