PORT ADELAIDE defender Hamish Hartlett believes the inclusion of Ollie Wines for this weekend’s clash against Brisbane is a big moment for the club.
Having missed the opening two rounds of the AFL Premiership Season, Wines is set to play against the Lions at the Gabba on Saturday evening.
Hartlett says it is “fantastic news” for the entire football club to have the co-captain back in the side.
“For Ollie personally, having suffered his little mishap in the pre-season and for him to get back as quickly as he has is fantastic,” Hartlett told FIVEaa’s Rowey and Bicks.
“He’s moving around sensationally well at training which is fantastic to see.
“For us as a group, the guys I’m sure will gain a lot of motivation through his return and the entire football club."
With Wines’ inclusion in the starting 22, it will be the first time Port Adelaide field co-captains in its history.
Something that the 28-year-old says will benefit the club moving forward.
“There’s obviously been a lot of controversy and speculation about the dual captaincy, and we will be able to get a gauge to how that’s going to play out for the rest of the season as of this weekend," he said.
"There are lots of benefits from Ollie being back and we are clearly a better team with him in it.”
The Power will play the Lions at the Gabba on Saturday evening at 6.55pm ACDT, while the Magpies host the Panthers at Alberton Oval from 2.10pm on Saturday afternoon.
