IT was a disappointing year from a team perspective but it still presented some wonderful highlights.

Today portadelaidefc.com.au takes a look at some of the best goals of the season.

From snaps and hooks to bouncing efforts from the pocket, here is part one of our top 10 goals of the year featuring goals 10-6.

Keep an eye out for our second part featuring goals 5-1.

10. Travis Boak v Sydney Round 2

It all started with a ball inside 50 and Chad Wingard jumping high to try claim the mark. He couldn’t complete the mark but was quick to recover once the ball was on the ground. His skipper was even quicker to react and took the ball cleanly on the run and snapped from 40 metres, under the outstretched arms of an opponent. The ball took one bounce and went straight through the middle to give Boak his second goal in-a-row at a vital point in the game.

  9. Robbie Gray v Hawthorn Round 9

Playing in Launceston, a long ball to the top of the goal square seemed destined for Charlie Dixon. The big man was well held by his opponent and could only get one hand to the ball, enter Robbie Gray. Without breaking his stride, he crumbed perfectly, quickly getting the ball onto his left boot and bouncing it home under immense pressure in a way only Robbie Gray can.

  8. Riley Bonner v West Coast Round 7

Robbie Gray involved again as Riley Bonner found his name on the scoresheet for just the third time in his career. Gray found the ball and space inside 50 but handpassed backwards to Bonner who was up from half back. The young defender stepped towards two West Coast opponents and launched a shot from 60 metres out just left of centre with the ball falling just outside the reach of the defender on the line. It was a rare highlight on an off day for the team.

  7. Steven Motlop v Fremantle Round 1

Steven Motlop started the play by running down an opponent on the wing, and after waiting outside the ensuing pack, received the ball thanks to the quick hands of Todd Marshall. The former Geelong-flier then showed speed and poise to break inside 50 away from an opponent and while being pushed in the back displayed class by getting his shot away on the outside of his right boot. The ball bounced home perfectly and Motlop made an immediate impact for club in his first game in black, white and teal.

  6. Justin Westhoff v Essendon Round 23

In a role reversal, small forward Jake Neade went up for a mark while big man Justin Westhoff stayed down and roved the ball right on the 50-metre line dead in front. His 50-metre snap for his third major of the game showed all his class to find a goal from absolutely nothing. He finished with five for the night but this was the pick of the bunch.
