A majority of AFL Captains expect the Port Adelaide Football Club to play finals this season, and they predict either Richmond or Adelaide will face Greater Western Sydney (GWS) in the Grand Final.

The AFL has surveyed the 18 club leaders ahead of the 2018 season with 14 predicting the Power will make the top eight.

Seven skippers predicted GWS would make the Grand Final with five each tipping Richmond and Adelaide to make consecutive deciders.

Nine different players were nominated as this year’s Brownlow Medallist, with seven captains predicting Geelong’s Patrick Dangerfield would win a second Brownlow.

Only four skippers thought Richmond’s Dustin Martin could go back-to-back.

Sydney’s Lance Franklin was the overwhelming favourite to claim the Coleman Medal as the league’s leading goal kicker with 12 votes, but Port Adelaide’s Charlie Dixon was one of four other forwards to receive at least one vote.

Four captains thought Carlton’s Paddy Dow would be this year’s AFL Rising Star while three picked North Melbourne’s Luke Davies-Uniacke.

Port Adelaide’s Travis Boak, Richmond’s Trent Cotchin and West Coast’s Shannon Hurn will miss a media opportunity featuring all of the captains at Etihad Stadium on Thursday.

Boak will remain in Adelaide to ensure a complete recovery from the hamstring tightness that saw him withdrawn from the club’s JLT Community Series win over Adelaide.
