AS Port Adelaide prepares to face the Western Bulldogs at Mars Stadium in Round 19 of the 2018 AFL season, portadelaidefc.com.au looks back on the last time the sides met.

It was Round 13 this season and the sides met at Adelaide Oval with the Power fifth on the ladder and the Bulldogs 14th.

Coming off a stirring win against Premier Richmond six days earlier, the Power was eager to highlight its top-four credentials against the Dogs.

On a cold and wet night, the small crowd of 26,137 – the lowest to an AFL game at Adelaide Oval – was treated to a strong start by the home side.

It booted five unanswered goals in the first quarter, while the Bulldogs managed just one point.

Youngster Todd Marshall was dangerous in attack, and in a stirring move, received a round of applause from the crowd in the 13th minute of the first quarter.

The 19-year-old – who wears jumper No.13 – was playing his first game since the death of his father in April.

Veteran forward Lindsay Thomas was lively in his second game for the Power after being recalled while wingman Jared Polec had two Goal of the Year contenders with a couple of superb strikes from almost identical spots hard up against the boundary in the left forward pocket

The Bulldogs made a strong start to the third quarter to close to within 19 points but injuries to Easton Wood and Jack Macrae stifled their potential and the Power went on another run of four straight goals to blow the margin back out to 42 points before easing away in the final quarter.

Power vice-captain Ollie Wines had a game-high 35 disposals, and Tom Rockliff, Robbie Gray and Charlie Dixon booted three goals each.

It was Port’s biggest win of the season and meant the Power had beaten the last two Premiers in consecutive matches.
