IT was a disappointing day for Port Adelaide, losing to ladder-leaders North Adelaide by 79 points at Alberton Oval.
The Magpies welcomed back four Power-listed players for its Round 8 clash with the Roosters on Saturday afternoon.
Todd Marshall, Dom Barry, Karl Amon and Lindsay Thomas all lined up for the home side, but it was the Roosters who were on the front foot early.
The visitors kicked the first of the afternoon, but Thomas replied immediately for Port to take a one-point advantage in the early stages.
There was plenty of spice in the game from the opening bounce, with former Magpie Robbie Young throwing his body around.
The Roosters kicked 10 unanswered goals from the four-minute mark of the first term until half time, to turn a 23-point quarter time lead to a 59-point margin at the main break.
Jasper Pittard worked hard in the first half collecting 17 disposals and eight marks, while Jack Trengove and Steven Summerton were the only other players who had double-figure possessions.
The Magpies needed to respond in the third term, and Pittard, Cam Hewett, Jimmy Toumpas, and Trengove won plenty of the ball, but it didn’t relate to the scoreboard.
Port only added one goal in the third quarter, a set shot from Lindsay - his second of the day.
North kicked two third-quarter goals to extend their half time lead to 66 points at the final change.
Pittard and Trengove continued to amass possessions in the last term, racking up 30 and 29 disposals respectively for the game, while Hewett and Barry found plenty of the ball.
The Roosters continued to hit the scoreboard in the final quarter, kicking four goals to two, to run away winners by 13 goals.
