Dear Members and Supporters,

12 wins and five losses, with three of the losses by less than a kick or two.

As we head into our second AFL bye, it is a more than respectable position. It’s pretty good in fact.

Thank heavens Jay was able to steady the ship and deliver the farewell game result we all wanted for Dom Cassisi.

A lot has been written and said already about the great warrior, which he finds incredibly humbling!

All I will add here is that he well and truly deserves every accolade that has come his way.

His legacy is a group of committed young men who held on strong together, despite the torment they endured during our very lean years in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Pity the footy gods didn’t quite deliver the fairy tale finish as Dom’s 50-metre shot at goal pitched on the line and agonisingly reversed back into the field of play.

Such is footy!

We must also acknowledge Dom’s mate and another champion in his own right - Kane Cornes has committed to a one-year deal that will see him play on in 2015.

Kane’s record is long and decorated, and we all know the standard he sets on the track. He’ll be firmly focussed on working with the boys to produce a strong finish to this season and we know he’ll be the first to hit the pavement next summer.

For all the talk of the Power, we cannot ignore the incredible work of the Magpies in the SANFL.

The Maggies are in a slightly stronger position and remain top of the table, despite a couple of recent hiccups.

This weekend provides a unique opportunity for those of us who love local footy - the first SANFL Showdown at Alberton Oval.

And we will be honouring the extraordinary centenary of our all-conquering 1914 premiership team.

Undefeated in every match of the season, this very special group of players were the then-South Australian Football League premiers, Champions of Australia and defeated a 'best of the rest' team from the other seven clubs.

As part of our commemorations, the Magpies will wear a replica 1914 guernsey for the occasion and there will be heaps to do for the kids as well from 12.00pm, here are the game details:

Port Adelaide v Adelaide Crows
2.10pm Saturday 26 July
Alberton Oval
Entry off Queen Street and Brougham Place

How good is this going to be for our club and our community?

The Power won’t be playing this weekend.

The Port Club will be open for business.

The Crows are on the improve in the SANFL and are fighting to keep their finals hopes alive; our boys have a lot to play for as we strive to hang on to top spot, and the crucial rest and double chance in the finals.

We’ll need your support!

One of the best ways you can support the club is by taking up a great value special offer on Magpies home game memberships. For just $30 you can see the SANFL Showdown, the final home game for the season against Norwood and get a 2014 Magpies membership pack as well.

Those are two huge games for our footy club, and the financial support the sales of those packages provides is going to be significant, so give our membership team a call on 1300 GO PAFC (1300 467 232) or click here to get yours now.

Buddha and the boys want to see a big turnout to help them get over the line and plenty of our club’s staff and volunteers will be turning out to watch the team run around in the Magpies heritage jumper.

Come down and cheer loud for our skipper Steve Summerton, Butch, Tommy Logan, the Irishman Daniel Flynn, Nathan Krakouer, All-Australian under-18 rep Jake Johansen, and our band of other young guns representing the club on Saturday as they continue to build something very special in the run to the SANFL finals.

You will not want to miss this one!
