With so many of the club’s developing players getting the call up to the Port Adelaide AFL side on the weekend only seven Power-listed men ended up taking to the State League.

Tyson Edwards and Matthew Nicks reviewed those players in the SANFL with Jasper Pittard and Ben Newton particularly impressive.

League

Jarrad Redden (for Eagles v Bulldogs)
7 disposals, 4 marks, 1 tackle, 13 hit outs, 2 clearances

Reddo came back to the Eagles from the Power squad and started the game well - coming off the bench and mastering the hit outs in the ruck. Unfortunately he faded away as the game went on and Centrals got well and truly on top. He struggled to find the ball around the ground and will look to try and turn things around against the Panthers next week.

Simon Phillips
15 disposals, 4 marks, 3 tackles, 4 inside 50s, 2 goals

Flip kicked the winning goal for the Legs against Sturt. He had 14 possessions and 2.2 but was pretty quiet up until the last quarter where he came out, got involved and got Norwood across the line. We’d like to see a bit more consistency from Simon as he  starts to press for selection back in the Power.

Daniel Webb
5 disposals, 1 mark, 2 tackles, 14 hit outs, 4 clearances, 1 goal

It wasn’t Webby’s greatest game with only five possessions and a handful of hit outs coming from some pretty good ruck work. He wasn’t as dominant as we want though and he’s got a couple of things we want him to work on going forward.

Reserves

Brendon Ah Chee
16 disposals, 6 marks, 3 tackles, 1 hit out, 2 clearanes, 2 inside 50s

Ah Chee played wing and forward and is working on his ability to attack and hunt the ball. He tends to be a bit more opponent-focussed however and whilst that’s good we also want him to focus on winning and attacking the football. We’re hoping from here on in he can start playing some hard, consistent footy and push for a League spot.

Nick Salter (for Eagles v Bulldogs)
14 disposals, 6 marks, 1 tackle, 2 inside 50s, 1 goal

Nick’s had a couple of games back from his foot operation and has started to get back his match fitness. He played very well in the first quarter up forward for the Eagles but had limited opportunities after that. He needs to focus on his second and third efforts but the game was a pretty good hit out for him and hopefully he’ll make an appearance in the League side this week.

Ben Newton (for Bloods v Port Adelaide)
14 disposals, 2 marks, 1 tackle, 2 clearances, 1 inside 50, 2 rebound 50s, 1 goal

Ben had a pretty reasonable game with 14 possessions, 1 goal and helped the Bloods get across to win that game. Newts will hopefully be pushing now to play in the League for West next week.

Jasper Pittard (for Double Blues v Redlegs)
15 disposals, 4 marks, 3 tackles, 1 clearance, 2 inside 50s, 2 rebound 50s

Jasper came back for Sturt in the Ressies in his third game there this year as he tries to get back on top of those injuries he's had. Jasper had 18 possessions and 5 tackles in a much better game where he went back with the flight of the ball, took some good marks and we expect him to be back in the League side as of next week.
