"We are gutted after that. It was an opportunity for us and what we put up today was pretty rubbish, to be blunt. We were beaten inside, we were beaten around the contest, when we had our opportunities we didn’t make the most of it.

"We’re spewing, gutted and hurting from that because we had a big chance to stay with the top eight and now we’ve got to fight.

"I think it’s the second year in a row we’ve had a bad loss leading into the bye and it’s a weird feeling. We probably don’t want to have a bye at this moment, we want to turn that performance around. We’ll come in on Monday, review it, and be really strong with each other and talk about how disappointed we are with a lot of the effort and understand, going into the bye, what we’re not accepting."

"The whole game I think we were beaten in the midfield group and I think that puts further pressure on the backline. Our skills weren’t up to it and in the end that costs you. You give yourself opportunities to go inside forward 50 and miss kicks, missed goals and handballs…the flow-on effect of that is costly.

"I think there were easy opportunities that we missed that stick in my mind. If you’re looking at the stats and they say we were more efficient – it just didn’t feel that way.

"Understandably Kenny was really disappointed – we all are. We’re all just really unhappy with the result. It comes back to everyone individually owning their performance, owning it as a team and making sure we can get back in form."
