PORT ADELAIDE has nominated Jackson Mead as a father/son selection in the 2019 NAB AFL Draft held on November 27-28.
Under AFL regulations all eligible father-son selections had to be nominated by clubs on Thursday afternoon.
The paperwork does not guarantee the Power will select Mead, but it gives the club the option of matching a bid made for the midfielder/half-forward by another team.
The talented right-footer had a very good under 18 national carnival, and was selected in the All-Australian team at half forward.
Mead is the son of Darren – a three-time SANFL Premiership player with the club who played 122 games for the Power and won the club’s inaugural AFL best and fairest in 1997 - and if selected in this year’s draft will become the club’s second father/son selection in its history after Brett Ebert in 2002.
Port Adelaide currently holds picks 12, 18, 29, 66, 67, 68, 71 & 86.
