THE players at the Power have dipped into their own pockets to help out those in need at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

“When my little guy was here the facilities weren’t all that great,” Kane Cornes said, “so the Power boys chipped in some money in the last few years to help do this place up and make this place a bit easier for the parents and kids especially at this time of year.”

The players raised $2,500 amongst themselves to help assist in funding renovations for the fourth floor children’s ward, with Kane Cornes presenting the cheque as a host of players visited the hospital to help spread Christmas cheer.

This follows on from donations raised in previous years, including in 2009, when the playing list came together to purchase a big-screen television for the ward.

“It’s a time for everyone to think about others and how tough they might be doing it,” Cornes said. “If we can bring a smile to a kids face by a visit and donate some money then the boys are really happy to do it.”

Cornes also got his own gift, with mad eight year-old Power fan Erin Taylor-McCormack from Whyalla handing him a card made for the visit.
