KYLE Chalmers, son of four-time Port Adelaide premiership hero Brett, will fly to Rio de Janeiro as part of the Australian Olympic Swim team after finishing second in the men’s 100m freestyle final at the Australian National Swim Championships on Monday night.
He will also be eligible for the men’s relay teams at the Rio Games.
The 17-year-old FINA 50m and 100m freestyle junior gold medallist is an avid Port Adelaide supporter and swam a qualifying time of 48.03s, 0.99s behind final winner Cam McEvoy.
Brett played in the 1992, 1994, 1998 and 1999 Port Adelaide premierships in the SANFL and is distinguished among Alberton greats as being one of few Magpies to also play for the Power (25 games).
He was a league assistant coach in the SANFL in 2012.
Congratulations Kyle Chalmers son of @PAFC premiership player Brett off to Rio .
