A LEGEND LOSING a guernsey is never a happy tale, particularly when that legend is a cult hero and the guernsey lost is worn in a premiership. 

Byron Pickett's lost guernsey tale is twisted with irony. 

It wasn't his 2004 Port Adelaide premiership jumper that went missing, rather his 1999 guernsey worn to victory with North Melbourne. 

A journey of a lost jumper

As the story goes, following his return to South Australia, Pickett took his 1999 jumper to a framing shop in Glanville. As the story goes,

That shop went bust, but without readily available contact information, the guernsey disappeared, only to emerge at auction where it was sold off. 

Years later, following interviews in the media and on portadelaidefc.com.au where Pickett revealed the story of the missing jumper, did the fan who bought it at auction set about returning it.

After making contact with The Advertiser and Port Adelaide, the guernsey was brought back to its rightful owner on Friday - Pickett's 40th birthday.
