Ever wondered what it’s like to be a Port Adelaide player, running out onto the field at an Adelaide Oval home game, in front of 50,000 supporters?
…wonder no more.
Thanks to pioneering technology and the club’s major partner Renault, Port Adelaide is bringing this exciting, one-of-a-kind experience to the eyes and ears of its supporters at Adelaide Oval this weekend.
The Renault Virtual Reality Zone is an AFL-first, interactive activity allowing fans to gain unique insight into a Power player’s perspective as he runs out onto the ground!
Using state-of-the-art 3D headsets, supporters will see and hear exactly what a player does as he makes his way up the Geof Motley race, enters the field alongside his team, bursts through the team banner and runs onto the playing arena under lights– all while the Adelaide Oval crowd roars from every direction.
With 360-degree views and perfectly crisp sound, the experience will leave you covered in goosebumps - taking you into another whole sense of reality. Look ahead, you’ll see fans leaning over the race with hands outstretched, awaiting a high-five. Look around, you’ll see Schulzy, Bobby and Jacko running by your side. Look up, and you’ll see fireworks blasting into the night sky.
Port Adelaide chief executive Keith Thomas said it’s just another way the club is trying to bring its supporters closer to the action.
“Our philosophy here at Port Adelaide is to have our supporters at the heart of everything we do. To that end we pride ourselves on providing as many inner-sanctum experiences as possible for our community and we feel this initiative certainly achieves that,” he said.
“The technology is amazing and is difficult to describe unless you’ve actually used it. I encourage as many supporters to head to the Renault Virtual Reality Zone in the Southern Plaza before our upcoming home games to enjoy this rare opportunity.”
The Renault Virtual Reality Zone is the first of its kind in the AFL, and the vision used is as realistic as it gets - coming from an actual 2015 Port Adelaide game. The club commissioned virtual reality production company Jumpgate Virtual Reality to film the team run out ahead of the Power’s Round 2 blockbuster against Sydney earlier this year using cutting edge, 3D technology.
The result? A one-of-a-kind, surreal, virtual reality experience for Port Adelaide fans never seen before in Australian football.
The club will launch the Renault Virtual Reality Zone at this weekend’s Round 10 clash against the Western Bulldogs in the Southern Plaza of Adelaide Oval. The zone will also be open to supporters at the Round 11 home game against Geelong.
Make sure you’re down at the oval from 4:30pm this Saturday, June 6 to be a part of the team and experience this incredible technology first-hand!
