NOT the result we were looking for on both the footy and fantasy front this week.
Just the two scores of 100 this week. Robbie Gray reeled in 115 and Boaky scored us 107. Robbie hasn’t missed a beat since he came back from his calf injury. He is definitely the forward to have this season. His mid forward status is also very valuable particularly as we head towards the bye rounds. Our Mr Dependable Brad Ebert had a poor Fantasy game with just 64. Perhaps there were some lingering effects from his injuries sustained against West Coast.
Nathan Krakouer had another great game with 75 points. His break-even is back down to 16 so given his strong position in the team he should be making us money for quite a few weeks to come. It was also good to see Karl Amon make his debut, and even though he had the green vest he still managed to pick up 52 points from his nine touches and two tackles. He could be a good downgrade target for you as long as he maintains his place in the side this week.
As we are now seven rounds in it is time to cull some of your rookies if you haven’t been already (and I hope you have been). One that needs to go is Christian Salem. He has a high BE and is also now out for 3-4 weeks with a hamstring injury. Another that you may want to move on would be Aaron Vandenberg. He has a break even of 65 which is close to his average of 70. He won’t make you much more money, and will start to erode some of his profits.
Kamdyn McIntosh is an interesting rookie for you this week. He did lose some money last week, but his break even is 65 and he is capable of doing this and he is still scoring ok so he won’t lose a heap of money (although he is playing the Power this week). I think that the two Melbourne boys are probably more of an urgent need to move on than Kamdyn.
The problem that we have of course with trading these rookies is that we need someone to trade them to. If you don’t have cash in the bank to upgrade them you need to look for a downgrade option, unfortunately they are a bit thin at the moment. Karl Amon is the popular pick this week and I expect to see him come into a lot of teams if named. Jordan De Goey may be an option but is a bit high in price at $264k and Jake Lever is an option down back but is also very highly priced at $289k. If there is a rookie named for their first game you may need to take a flyer on them and risk it, but make sure that your other bench player in their position is playing so you have cover in the event of a late out.
One of the big topics of the week is whether or not to bring in Tom Rockliff this week. His 90 against us last week saw his price drop all the way down to $482k. His break even is still at 126 so he is unlikely to rise too much this week and he could infact drop further. However, if you are upgrading in the midfield it could be worth picking him up at this low price. Also, if you traded out Jordan Lewis when he was suspended you should be looking to bring him back if you can as he is still the highest averaging player in the competition.
There were a couple of guys that had down weeks, but certainly no need to panic, so you should certainly stick by Mundy and Pendlebury. All players have a down week occasionally and I fully expect these guys to bounce back this week and put up some good numbers for you. In regards to who should be your captain this week? Well I will be suggesting that Lewis is your best bet but other guys you might consider would be Pendlebury, Swan, Armitage and Heppell.
Good luck with your team this week and as always have a close look at team selection this week and stick to social media on Friday before lockout.
