WHO get's the Power's Badge of Honour?

Lame puns aside, we went deep into the Port Store records to find out which names are selling this year.

Of course, the AFL is still an industry where player glorification is nowhere near the level of other international codes like the NFL, NBA and pro soccer.

But there is one thing where we can get a read on ‘Name’ value – fan badges, the eternal signifier of which player has captured your heart.

For instance, my scarf (if I got to wear it at work) would have Ebo, Hammer and Jasper badges on it.

Colleagues enjoy the on-field exploits of Robbie Gray, Brett Eddy and Brendon Ah Chee.

Chad Wingard is, of course, ever popular.

But you can’t argue with stats.

Fans' new pin-up (or pin-on)

Sam Powell-Pepper is far-and-away the biggest badge-seller this year.

Almost double the number of SPP badges have been sold compared to the second-most popular name.

There’s no surprises who’s next: Wingard and Wines – two of the most popular players in the league, let alone at Alberton.

But then there’s Paddy Ryder, who’s jumped to fourth in the pecking order for sales, just one ahead of Robbie Gray and Charlie Dixon.

There’s also a surprise packet – pre-season powerhouse Brett Eddy, who was promoted to the senior list on the back of a ripping JLT Series.

Boaky is ninth – an evergreen seller, and then there’s another surprise – young Dan Houston who, like Eddy, was promoted from the rookie list at the start of the year.

You can pick up your favourite player badges in-store at Port Store, Alberton Oval or at game day outlets at Adelaide Oval.
