PORT Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley has warned there's no quick fix to arrest his side's form slump.
The Power will try to snap a three-game losing streak when they face Melbourne in Alice Springs on Saturday.
"We know it is not going to be a quick fix, we have just got to continue to work really hard," Hinkley told reporters on Friday at Adelaide Airport.
"The fundamentals of our game are based around contested ball and defence and we're going to stay in that space and be really strong in our belief that what we do is good enough - if we can get it right.
"We're still a good football team if we play our style of football the way we need to play it.
"If we don't and we're off a bit, we just look like an average team - and that is the results we have been getting at the moment."
The Power will be without boom recruit Paddy Ryder due to an inflamed Achilles, which Hinkley said could also keep the ruckman out for next week.
"It has just been getting sorer and last week it was decided it was getting too sore, so we have to make the decision based on the long term," he said.
Port also will be without retired tagger Kane Cornes and injured key defender Jackson Trengove (ankle), with Tom Clurey, Matthew Broadbent and Paul Stewart the three inclusions to the side that lost to Richmond last week.
Hinkley is wary of the Demons, who are coming off a big win over the Western Bulldogs and regain Neville Jetta and Jack Viney from injury.
"Melbourne are a really strong side," he said.
"We know what (Melbourne coach Paul Roos) Roosy's teams bring ... we go up there with no illusions as to what type of game it's going to be - a tough, tight game of football."
