BRENDON Ah Chee has joined a select group of players after being named as the best-on-ground by the umpires in the Power’s Round 20 win over the GWS Giants.
In just his eighth game, Ah Chee was acknowledged for his blinder against the Giants with three Brownlow votes.
He had 24 disposals, five tackles and kicked three goals.
This puts Ah Chee in some elite company, as only five other players have delivered a best-on-ground performance within their first 10 games since 2010.
Among them are Fremantle’s Michael Barlow (sixth game), Bulldog Marcus Bontempelli (eighth) and Sydney’s Dan Hannebery (10th).

Despite its wealth of talent, Port Adelaide has never had a Brownlow Medal recipient in its 19 AFL seasons, but the three-vote performance of Ah Chee was a highlight on Monday night.
Along with Ah Chee, rookie Sam Gray put his stamp on the medal count and announced himself as part of the Power’s future with several noteworthy performances at the end of the season.
In a breakout month, Gray accumulated his first five Brownlow votes across the last three rounds of the season.
The small midfielder averaged a lofty 35 disposals and kicked two goals across those three vote-polling games.
Travis Boak polled highest for Port Adelaide on Monday night, while Alipate Carlile finally drew the approval of the umpires – getting his first votes after 157 career games.
