PORT Adelaide SANFL contracted players Ben Sawford and Jack Haarsma have advised the club they won’t be playing at Alberton in 2016, having both signed deals with Glenelg.
Sawford, 21, forced his way into the Magpies league team during 2015 which was highlighted by a standout performance against the Tigers at the Bay, where he racked up 40 possessions, 14 clearances and kicked 4 goals.
In the same game, Haarsma, 19, kicked the winning goal with just seconds remaining.
SANFL Football Manager Scott Peters said the club was disappointed to lose the talented pair.
“It’s disappointing to lose two guys who have been with the club for a long period of time, having come through our junior pathways after being recruited from our Eyre Peninsula zone,” Peters said.
“But we understand these guys are appealing for other clubs and we wish them all the best in the future.”
Port Adelaide will make announcements about some exciting SANFL signings within the next week.
