Port Adelaide
All eyes and ears are on the possible return of key defender Jackson Trengove this week as he pushes for selection after spending the past two weeks on the sidelines with an ankle injury.
Power head of high performance Darren Burgess told portadelaidefc.com.au he’ll be tested during the week to see if he’s fit to play.
“He should be able to play if he gets through this week’s training,” Burgess said.
“He’s been as good as ever in his rehab, he’s done all the right things.”
Nathan Krakouer will have the opportunity to return to the AFL side this week with his elevation to the senior list on Wednesday. He’s been in fantastic form in the SANFL and will be available for selection to bolster the Power’s back line.
With speedy forward Matt White out with a damaged hamstring, the Power will be looking for a strong, fast target moving into attack.
The change could come from Jasper Pittard, with Hamish Hartlett suggesting the defender could move upfield to provide some faster ball movement.
Kane Mitchell has received a nod from coaching staff, claiming the Peter Jackson Player of the Week in the SANFL for his elite running ability across the field. He’s had ample experience in top-level football and could be the answer to the Power’s need for speed.
Meanwhile big-bodied midfielders Brendon Ah Chee and Andrew Moore are both pushing for an AFL recall after consistently strong SANFL performances.

Carlton
Three Blues are in the mix to return to the field against the Power this weekend following Carlton’s bye week break.
Carlton head of football Andrew McKay said vice-captains Bryce Gibbs and Michael Jamison along with youngster Ciaran Byrne are likely to play on Saturday afternoon.
Gibbs is recovering from a back injury, while Jamison suffered a calf injury in Round 4. Both have been sidelined for several weeks and will have to pass a fitness test this week in order to face Port Adelaide.
“Bryce Gibbs has obviously been struggling with a sore back these past few weeks, it’s improving really well in full training this week, so he’ll be a test for the game on Saturday against Port Adelaide,” Carlton head of football Andrew McKay said on Tuesday.
“Michael’s been out for quite some time with some calf injuries, but certainly he’s up and rearing to go so he’ll certainly be a test at the end of the week and likely to play against Port Adelaide this week.”
Young Irish recruit Ciaran Byrne has also recovered from a strained hamstring - he’ll be another test this week and will be considered for selection.
Big man Matthew Kreuzer made his AFL return in Round 10 after having over a year off due to injury. He booted two goals in the third term and provided a strong impact in the forward line, so he’s a likely selection in the Blues’ side this week.
