IT’S clear the Magpies continue to hold a special place in the hearts of the Port Adelaide faithful.

Results from the BIG PORT SURVEY, which quizzed Port Adelaide supporters on a range of topics from players, to competitions and the future of the club, made it clear that the club's SANFL presence remains integral to its future.

94 per cent of supporters want to see a viable, long term Port Adelaide presence in the SANFL competition.

Interest in the SANFL competition in general has increased since the start of 2014 (when the club restructured to align its AFL players with its state league team).

40 per cent of fans say their interest in the SANFL has increased since the start of 2014, while 50 per cent said their interest is the same.

One club a cut above

84 percent of respondents said they follow Port Adelaide in the SANFL, a consistent figure with surveys over the last few seasons.

BPS: Norwood the team Port fans love to hate

10 percent indicated they don’t follow the state competition, meaning just six percent of supporters follow another club in the state competition.

Timing is everything

While Port Adelaide is not playing in the 2015 SANFL Grand Final, the BIG PORT SURVEY also quizzed fans on other elements of the competition.

Last year, the SANFL adjusted its fixture to play its grand final on the same weekend as the AFL preliminary finals.

Port Adelaide supporters, at least, prefer the old format of the state grand final being played on the weekend after the AFL's decider – and during the daytime.

Most supporters try to reach at least one game each season, with 81 per cent of supporters saying they attend 1-3 Magpies games a year.
