PORT ADELAIDE has claimed defender Jake Pasini and midfielder/forward Trent Burgoyne during Friday’s 2019 AFL Rookie Draft.
The Power also re-selected Boyd Woodcock and Riley Grundy as promised.
The pair were delisted as part of list management in recent weeks with a commitment that they would be re-taken by the club as rookies.
Pasini was claimed with the eighth pick of the rookie draft and is a key position defender from Swan Districts in Western Australia.
The 18-year-old has been described as a mobile and composed tall defender whose key strengths are his marking and foot skills as well as his ability to read the play.
The 193cm, 82kg defender played an important role in Western Australia's 2019 NAB AFL Under-18 Championship winning team, averaging 12 disposals and five marks for the Sandgropers.
Taken with pick 22, Burgoyne becomes just the third father-son selection for the club and the second in two days after Jackson Mead’s arrival on Thursday night.
The Woodville-West Torrens product is the son of two-time premiership player Peter Burgoyne, the nephew of 2004 premiership star Shaun Burgoyne and Grandson of former SANFL player Peter Burgoyne Snr.
The 18-year-old is a highly skilled wingman, who can also play across half-forward, where he looks to exploit his blistering outside speed and loves to take the game on with a running bounce.
While a hamstring injury meant he didn’t play a game in 2019, he was able to test at the state combine and is now fit and ready to join pre-season training with his new teammates next week.
Woodcock (pick 32) and Grundy (pick 38) have continued to train with the club since their delisting with approval from the AFL.
