Macca19’s Top 5
Travis Boak

Oh Captain, My Captain! What a performance. Is that the best game he has played in his career? It would have to be close. To do it in such a big game, unbelievable. Just danced his way through packs, shimmied his way into space and delivered the ball with class, Francou-esque ability to side step out of danger multiple times in the one play. Two goals was great reward. That’s why he is our captain. Led by example and a very well deserved Badcoe Medal.

Kane Cornes
Epic, Vintage Kane Cornes. 33 disposals himself. Double what Selwood had. Makes me so happy to see him keep performing at an elite level after all these years. Was reminiscent of the years of old. Gave Selwood no space to work in, made him angry a number of times and just found so much of the footy himself. If it wasn’t for Boak, he'd probably have been BOG.

Matt Lobbe
Now THAT is the Lobbe I've been waiting to see all year. Outstanding in the centre, great around the ground and Laser like in front of goal. Just doesn’t miss those shots. Hurry up and get fit Redden because I cant wait to see a fit and firing duo of Lobbe and Redden terrorise opponents in the ruck and up forward. Best game of the year by far and hopefully it gives him the confidence to do that week in week out from now on. High in our best.

Jack Hombsch
#1 ticket holder of the Jack Hombsch fan club right here. This kid - and I think it gets forgotten just how young he is - is now a genuine first team player that performs week in week out. Only just turned 21 and under 20 games, he’s a super defender that has it all. Is the best pure spoiler in our side. Can shut down space effectively on his opponent. Reads the play exceptionally well. A fantastic kick of the football. He has future leader written all over him with what he does on the field. Thought he played an absolute ripper tonight. Had two very different jobs in shutting out Bartel - which I thought he did very well, then standing the much taller Walker who he also did a good job on. Cant wait to see what he can do with another few years in the system.

Brad Ebert
Just keeps on giving us elite performances week in week out. Deserved a goal tonight but not to be. Thought he was the player that really got us going in the first quarter, same as last week, and gave us plenty both inside and out. Arguably the best inside game he's played this year and his run and carry was critical as always. I've run out of superlatives to say about Ebo. He's just a genuine superstar now. Not much more needs to be said than that.

Best young player
Ollie Wines

I honestly cant think of a better handballer of the ball in the competition at the moment. So strong over the ball, so strong with the ball in his hands to keep the arms free and deliver pin point handballs under any sort of pressure you can throw at him. Thought he was wonderful tonight and if there’’s a better 19 year old in the competition, I'd love to see him. How good can he get to at his peak? Frightening!
